Preserving Legacies

Giving a future to our past

2024

The Convergence has embarked on the first segment of the journey to document the resilience of cultural preservation in the face of climate change. Collaborating with Preserving Legacies and National Geographic, our team traveled to Togo and Benin to capture the story of the Batammariba community living within the UNESCO world heritage site of Koutammakou.

As a living heritage site, the culture preserved through the efforts of local stewards is increasingly threatened by climate change, which impacts both the way of life and the connection to the land. As climate shifts imperil their ancestral way of life, the locals' steadfast commitment to safeguarding their heritage shines through. Follow along our journey as we illuminate stories of cultural resilience first in Koutammakou, then to Ifagao, to Petra and beyond.
