Semilla de Dioses
An upcoming documentary film
Project Summary
Indigenous Mayan sisters Elide and Delfina view food as a profound link to their ancient past, representing their cultural heritage in Mérida. As delegates for the Conservatory of Mexican Gastronomic Culture, they advocate for women entrepreneurs and indigenous Mayans.
Semilla de Dioses provides an intimate look into the reality of Mayan communities as they grapple with the palpable impacts of climate change. Amidst these growing challenges, the Yucatan inhabitants tenaciously cling to their traditions, even as the looming threat jeopardizes not only the region's past but also its invaluable wisdom for the future. The film reveals the impactful efforts of the two sisters as they address food sustainability through empowering women and preserving Yucatan culture.
Impact Approach
Foremost is the importance of accurately representing the local community in the Yucatan region, amplifying their voices, and capturing their story with authenticity. Through a joint creative vision with sisters Delfina and Elide, the film represents an authentic reflection of their story.
Beyond the narrative, our team has crafted a comprehensive impact strategy, which involves supporting the non-profit Fundación de Ara Macao which distributes capacity-building support to local Mayan communities.
The Convergence, along with Fundación de Ara Macao organized a fundraising event at the Explorers Club with all of its proceeds dedicated to building local capacity.
This strategic partnership aims to continue aiding Mayan communities even after the film's distribution, ensuring a tangible and lasting positive impact.
