Uniting Resilience
President of Palau, Surangel Whipps Jr call to action to save island nations around the world
Project Summary
During Climate Week and the UNGA 78 the Palauan President Surangel Whipps Junior addresses the world with a call to accelerate climate action. The president reminds the world that for island nations, climate action is not a choice, it is a must. Island nations are at risk of disappearance due to sea level rise and are already drowning in debt as they struggle to adapt to a rapidly changing climate. The President makes a plea to world leaders as they approach their decision making, to support islands through grants and accessible funding. This plea for action comes at a timely moment with the decisions for the Loss and Damage fund approaching during COP28. Uniting Resilience is about uniting the efforts of Island Nations and raising the cry for the world to take action.
